Floy Walberg 
 
Brief Bio

Floy Walberg paints in pastels, tempera-ink resist, opaque and transparent watercolor. A native of rural Nebraska, Floy graduated from the University of Nebraska in journalism and advertizing. She has been a Colorado resident since 1948 and has been paining since the late 1970's after being inspired by Edith Niblo, and outstanding teacher of design. Floy has also taken workshops and classes with Steven Quiller, Tony Ortega, Doug Dawson and other regional artists. 

 

Floy shows regularly in a number of juried, state and regional shows, as well as in group artistic shows and has received numerous awards including  First Place for her painting, “Old Hotel” at the Driscoll Center at Denver University in 2008 and Third place for her painting, “Montana Elevator” at the Boettcher Concert Hall, in 2005. Floy is a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, a member of the Denver Allied Arts Guild, the Colorado Artists Guild, the Artists by Design, the Park Hill Art Club, and a member of the Foothills Art Center. She is also a long-time volunteer at the Denver Art Museum. Floy lives in Denver, Colorado and is a summer resident of the Nederland/Sugarloaf area.

 
Floy's Philosophy

Color and design are very important to Floy, and that is apparent in her paintings.  She works in tempera ink resist, casein and pastel.  These mediums allow her to do landscapes, florals and her favorite, architectural buildings, in strong colors that define her style.
