Opus Two

Violin & Piano Duo
The internationally renowned Opus Two played their second concert in the Mountain Community Music and Arts Association's Summer Concert Series on July 17, 2011 in the Nederland Community Presbyterian Church. Opus Two, violinist William Terwilliger and pianist Andrew Cooperstock, has gained international recognition and received enthusiastic reviews on five continents in addition to making numerous recordings. Highlights from 2009 include a twenty-city US tour and performances with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra. The duo is recognized for its “divine phrases, impelling rhythm, elastic ensemble and stunning sounds.” They are champions of American music and in the concert featured the works of Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Robert Starer and John Corigliano.
This very special performance was possible because of the close working relationship between Nederland’s Mountain Community Music and Arts Association and the University of Colorado music department. The availability of the beautiful concert quality Charles Walter piano at the church also helped seal the deal. Andrew Cooperstock serves as chair of the keyboard department and has performed as soloist and given master classes throughout the United States and Europe. William Terwilliger is professor of violin at the University of South Carolina. He has held a faculty position at the University of Toledo and given master classes on four continents. This performance was one fit for the finest concert halls of the world – including our own!
