Ryan
Drickey is a freelance
violinist/fiddler and singer, known for his subtle and expressive touch.
His
influences range from the 20th century classical virtuoso tradition to
the
rural old-time fiddling of Appalachia,
from
the formidable traditions of Scandinavian dance music to the wild
intricacies
of American Jazz. While remaining deeply respectful of the traditions
from
which he has learned, Ryan brings his own musical language into
everything he
plays.
Ryan can be
often be heard
playing concerts and dances in Colorado and around the US, collaborating
with
artists such as Jayme Stone, KC Groves, Taarka, Sandra Wong, Grant
Gordy, and
Kailin Yong. He won the Rockygrass fiddle contest in 2007, and has
performed
with Matt Flinner, Darrell Scott, Opera Colorado, Slipstream, Boulder
Acoustic
Society, The Greeley Philharmonic, The Denver Philharmonic, and many
others.
His current projects include The Expedition Quartet, Taarka, The
Hartford
Tribute, Honey Don’t and the Steamboat Springs Orchestra.
